Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients are parts of any drug, which are active. Thus, based on the drug’s functional dose, the responses and results vary. Certain medication are consists of more than one type of API. Any medication is consists of two components or factors. The first is Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and second is excipient. An excipient means is an active substance formulated along with API. If it is in syrup type, then the excipient will be the fluid that has been used. Thus, excipients are the non-active or inert components existing inside a medication while the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients is the chemical active material, which is intended to generate the preferred impact in the body.

Certain Effective Drug Components are unidentified and hence require additional ingredients, which can work together with the API to generate the required therapeutic impact. For example, in the situation of herbs, the API is usually a mixture of several mixes and ingredients, which when used together become effective and act on one's body system. Thus, in such circumstances, the API’s are not unique ingredients but the end result of several herbs and ingredients.

Due to these factors, there is a need for API’s in every product or tab.
